Slovenia is located in the south-Central of the European continent and is home to over two million people. In the past couple of years, the education system in Slovenia has seen a lot of changes which were implemented inorder to create awareness of each individual’s right to an education.
Slovenia’s Academic Year:
Slovenia’s academic year starts in October and proceeds to September the next year. Each academic year has got two semesters i.e. from October to January (is called the winter semester) and from February to mid-July and the organization of the studies taking place during school hours is shown on the programmes of study given to students/pupils.
Slovenia’s Education Levels:
It is divided into Primary school which is for children from the age of six and takes nine years to complete after which they proceed to secondary school which has got an option of programmes like technical, vocational or general. After high school, those that chose the general secondary programme, after completion, proceed to University where upon completion he/she will look for a job in their specialized field. From one private and two public universities back in 1993, the education in Slovenia has grown rapidly thanks to the creation of several other learning institutions that offer studies that cover all fields.
